Nankai University is a key university in the national "211 Project" and "985 Project", and is the alma mater of the beloved Premier Zhou. Founded in 1919, the founders are Zhang Boling and Yan Xiu, two famous patriotic educators in modern times. During the Anti-Japanese War, Nankai University, Peking University and Tsinghua University formed the world-famous Southwest United University in Kunming, which was known as the "North Star of Universities". Nankai University covers an area of 2.102 million square meters (3,154 acres) and has a building area of 1.242 million square meters. Nankai University has three campuses, including the main campus (Balitai Campus), Yingshuidao Campus and TEDA Campus, forming a pattern of one school with multiple campuses, reasonable configuration, coordinated interaction and comprehensive development.
