Introduction to Zhang Jian: Zhang Jian (July 1, 1853 - July 17, 1926) was given the courtesy name Jizhi and his personal name Se'an. He was the number one scholar in the late Qing Dynasty, held many important positions, and founded countless enterprises and schools. He was a modern Chinese industrialist, politician, educator, and an early pioneer in the field of Chinese cotton textiles.
