Introduction to Houtanjing: It is said that the name of Houtanjing comes from the 12th year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty. An old lady Lin passed away in the local area. In order to find good Feng Shui to shelter her descendants, Tangshan geologists were specially invited to find a burial place. Finally, they chose this place. This place has beautiful scenery and a very good view. Especially, there are monkeys gathering there. The geographer felt that it was full of aura, so he called this place "Monkey Cave". Every time when worshiping ancestors, rich sacrifices are prepared to pay tribute to the monkeys, and firecrackers are not allowed to be set off. Their descendants are indeed brilliant and become the richest man in the place. But as time went by, the descendants of the Lin family forgot their ancestors' instructions and set off firecrackers when worshiping their ancestors, scaring away the monkeys and destroying the aura of the monkey caves. Their descendants also declined accordingly; and the entire valley here is like a well, with a well in front of the valley. A small mountain peak looks like a playful monkey crouching down to explore the deep well, so the place name "Monkey Exploration Well" has been passed down.
