Introduction to the Convent of San Martino: The Convent of San Martino (Italian: Certosa di San Martino) is located on the top of Vomero overlooking the Bay of Naples. It is one of the significant landmarks of Naples.
The Abbey of San Martino was once the monastery of St. Martino of Tours dedicated by the Carthusians. In the first half of the 16th century, the church was dissolved and the building was expanded in 1623. The monastery was closed during the French rule and is now used as a national museum. Open to the public, it features displays of Spanish and Bourbon period artifacts, as well as a display of nativity plays considered to be the best in the world.
