Introduction to the Air and Space Museum: The Washington Branch of the National Air and Space Museum is the largest aerospace science and technology museum in the world and is affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution. Its predecessor was the National Aviation Museum established in 1946 on Congress Street. It was renamed in 1966 and moved to its current location in 1976. The museum is 209 meters long, 69 meters wide and 26 meters high, and can accommodate about 8,000 viewers at the same time. There are 22 halls on the first and second floors, and the third floor is the library, service desk and restaurant. The front and both sides of the museum are glass halls, which are crystal clear, light and bright.
