It depicts a total of 12 emperors and 10 empresses from Nurhaci, the founder of the Qing Dynasty, to the last emperor Puyi. John Ford, chairman of the International Chinese Snuff Bottle Society, called this set of works an "immortal masterpiece", and the New York Times called it a "milestone masterpiece and an unparalleled treasure."
