Introduction to the former residence: Ibsen's former residence is another part of the exhibition hall, where he spent his last 11 years. The bed remains in the bedroom, and the study is the best-preserved original room. It is said that Ibsen would walk to the hotel next to the Opera House at 11:30 every day to drink coffee and read the newspaper alone. He would come and leave on time, no matter the season. The king had given him the keys to the palace gardens across the street so that he could stroll alone without the burden of fame. But he had no intention of going there. He often sat alone in his study or living room, watching the scenery of Oslo outside the window, immersed in meditation on life and conception of dramas.
