Introduction to Lake Powell: Lake Powell is named in honor of the first pioneer in the United States who rafted the river and proposed the development of water conservancy. Its area is more than twice that of Lake Mead, with various red sandstones, stone arches, canyons and thousands of blue waves. Its scenery is far better than that of Lake Mead, and it has become a major national resort in the southwestern United States.
