Introduction to the University of Paris: The University of Paris is one of the oldest universities in Europe, formerly the Sorbonne University founded in 1257. In 1968, a student uprising occurred at the University of Paris. Students protested against the outdated curriculum and cramming education, demanding more academic freedom and campus democracy. The French government made a series of reorganizations and adjustments to the University of Paris, forming 13 independent universities, which are now Paris. 1st to 13th Universities. On January 1, 1971, the 13 new universities of Paris were established at the same time. Each of the 13 new universities was independent and had no affiliation. The number only represents the order and has nothing to do with quality or reputation.
