Introduction to the Al-Deir Monastery: The Al-Deir Monastery (AL-Deir) is the largest building in Petra after the Haznach Temple. It is a temple carved along the mountain by the Nabatan people. It was used as a monastery in the Roman and Byzantine periods. The front is 50 meters wide and 45 meters high. There are 8 huge stone pillars in the front. It is the largest stone-cut building in Petra. For tourists, the monastery is also the best place to watch the sunrise in Petra, but you must leave early in the morning to see it.
