Introduction to the Independence Monument: The Independence Monument, located on the south side of the palace, was built to commemorate Cambodia's independence from French colonial rule on November 9, 1953. It was completed in March 1958. It is 37 meters high and has 7 floors. There are 100 snake gods (symbols of Cambodian culture) on it.
