French style building introduction: In 1896 (the 22nd year of Guangxu), China and France signed the "Regulations on the China-Vietnam Border Flood Control Patrol", and both sides established equal flood control departments. China set up the "Guangxi Full Border Flood Control Patrol" in Longzhou County. The French side has set up flood supervision offices in Lang Son and Cao Bang, and both sides have also set up nine sub-offices on the Guangxi-Vietnam border. This building was built in 1914 and designed by French engineers. The "French Style Building" was the office location of the "Zhennanguan Flood Control Branch" (referred to as the Nanguan Flood Control Bureau) established by the Qing government in Pingxiang. It was mainly responsible for border diplomatic affairs and maintaining border security. Next to the French-style building, there used to be the Guandi Temple and the Zhaozhong Temple to commemorate the patriotic soldiers of the Qing army who died heroically in the defense of Zhennanguan in 1885. Both of them were destroyed by the war during the Anti-Japanese War.
