Introduction to the China-Japan Friendship Garden: In the spring of 1981, the Botanical Garden introduced more than 600 cherry blossoms of 24 species from Shimonoseki, Japan. In 1982, it introduced more than 1,000 rhododendrons of 5 species from Fukuoka, Japan, and planted them together in the center of the botanical garden. , spelled out as "China and Japan". In 1994, Qingdao City and Wakayama, Japan, established sister cities. The Japanese side donated 500 cherry blossoms, which were planted here and a monument was erected to commemorate them. The park was called the "China-Japan Friendship Park". Every spring, the lawns in the garden are green, and the rhododendrons and cherry blossoms compete with each other, making it a major attraction in the botanical garden.
