The glorious introduction of the small building: No. 17 Shanhaiguan Road not only attracted many marshals, but in the 1960s, Mao Zedong’s wife He Zizhen also spent many years recuperating in Qingdao and lived in the Marshal Building. During the Cultural Revolution, Jiang Qing arrived in Qingdao at the same time as He Zizhen one summer and also lived in the Marshal Building. The two lived only a hundred meters apart, but never interacted with each other. After the reform and opening up, many provincial and municipal leaders also visited Qingdao frequently and stayed in this "Marshal Building". In 1988, Comrade Jiang Zemin, then Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, rushed from Shanghai to Qingdao at the invitation of central leaders and moved into No. 17 Shanhaiguan Road, adding new luster and splendor to the Marshal Building.
