Introduction to the Zhaitang: The Zhaitang is located under the Prajna Hall and is a two-story building. This hall is where the monks in the temple use their meals, and the rituals are also very particular. Buddhists call eating a meal a "passing the hall." During the meeting, everyone stands in front of their seats. The master first speaks, and then everyone recites the "Offering Mantra" in unison. After reciting, the monks sit down and the monk responsible for distributing the food carries a bucket to put the food. During the meal, no sound is allowed from the bowls and chopsticks, and no talking is allowed. Even when adding food, you need to use gestures. The whole process is very solemn.
