Sand Island Introduction: Located in the northeast of the lake, in Haiyan County, it was originally a small island in the lake. It was formed because the sand ridges of the lake protruded out of the water and received the accumulation of wind and sand. It looked like a new crescent sand dune floating on the water. It and the rolling sand mountains on the east coast of the lake form a unique desert landscape in the Qinghai Lake area, blending with the blue sky, clear water and yellow sand.
