Introduction to Reykjavik Cathedral: Hallgrímskirkja in the center of Reykjavik is the largest church in Iceland and the sixth tallest building in Iceland with a height of 74.5 meters. The church is named after the famous Icelandic priest and poet Hallgrímur Pétursson. It was designed by architect Guðjón Samúelsson in 1937. The overall construction work began in 1945 and ended in 1986. As the most important landmark in the city, its prominent towers can be seen from any corner of the city. You can reach the observation deck at the top through the elevator inside the church, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the entire Reykjavik mountains. There is also a huge pipe organ inside the church, which is 15 meters high and weighs 25 tons. In the square in front of the church stands a statue of explorer Leif Eriksson. It was a gift to Iceland from the United States in order to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of the founding of the Icelandic Parliament in 1930.
