Introduction to Höfði House: Höfði House (Höfði) is a landmark building at the end of the Cold War. It is located in the city center near the seaside. It was built at the end of the 19th century. Before 1951, it was the official residence of the British Ambassador to Iceland. The current property rights are owned by Reykjavik City Hall. In early October 1986, then-U.S. President Ronald Reagan and former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev held a historic meeting here and signed an agreement, ending the decades-long Cold War between the East and the West.
