Introduction to the Basilica of Sant'Andrea: The Basilica of Sant'Andrea della Valle was designed and built by Raierdi in 1665. It is a typical Baroque architectural style. Its gorgeous dome is the largest after St. Peter's Basilica. It was designed by Maderno in 1622-1625. The dome murals are also quite brilliant. The Basilica of Sant'Andrea is famous for being the setting for the first act of Puccini's opera "Tosca". The remains of two popes of the Picomini family are buried in the church.
