Introduction to Santa Maria Maggiore: Santa Maria Maggiore, also known as Santa Maria Maggiore Cathedral, is one of the four special basilicas of Catholicism. The church combines several different architectural styles and is the most successfully built cathedral. The nave is a 5th-century building, the imitation Romanesque bell tower is a symbol of the Middle Ages, the new mosaic ceiling caisson is in the Renaissance style, while the two domes of the church and the majestic main body of the building are in the Baroque style below and on the back.
