Introduction to Whirinaki Forest Park: Whirinaki Forest Park is located 90 kilometers southeast of Rotorua, next to National Highway 38. It has the reputation of "ancient forest". There are many towering trees that are hundreds of years old, lava flows and caves from ancient times. The remnants in the caves are the remains of the Taupo volcano eruption 2000 years ago.
