Introduction to the Palace of Holy Cross: The Palace of Holyroodhouse was formerly the Holy Cross Monastery built in about 1128. It was built under the order of King David I of Scotland at the time. In 1520, James IV converted it into a royal palace, and now it is the inn where the Queen of England travels every summer.
