Introduction to Sao Paulo Independence Park: Sao Paulo Independence Park is located on the banks of the Iberanga River in the southeast of Sao Paulo city. It was built to commemorate the independence of Brazil on September 7, 1822. The park covers an area of 184,830 square meters and consists of three parts: the main building museum, the garden and the Independence Monument. The main building was designed in the Renaissance palace architectural style by Italian engineer TOMMASO BEZZI in the early 19th century. It now belongs to the University of Sao Paulo and serves as a museum to display some photos and objects reflecting the history of Sao Paulo. The Independence Monument in front of the main building was completed in 1922, the 100th anniversary of Brazil's independence. The underground tomb contains the remains of Pedro I and his queen, who were transferred to Brazil by Portugal in 1972.
