Introduction to the "Yechi" monument: The "Yechi" monument commemorates Hou Tongzeng, the national hero who resisted the Qing Dynasty. Yechi, also known as Yejiachi, is the pond behind Zeng's house in Zuotongzheng Houdong in the Southern Ming Dynasty. During the "Three Massacres in Jiading", Hou Dong and his sons Yuan Yan and Yuan Jie committed suicide by throwing themselves into a leaf pond. In the 21st year of the Republic of China, a cement pillar gate was built on the south side of the pool. There is a couplet on the pillar: "The hatred is in the clear pool, and the blue blood is cold and ripples melt. After donating a child, loyal ministers and filial sons have their own future." In the 25th year of the Republic of China, the teachers and staff of Jiading County and Students donated money to build the "Ye Pond" monument. After liberation, Yechi was filled up to build public housing, and the monument was also destroyed. In 1961, the People's Committee of Jiading County re-stoned the stone on the west side of Yechi's old site (today's Xinhua Bookstore in Qinghe Road County, Jiading Town), with the word "Yechi" written by Wei Wenbo. In front of the "Yechi Monument", every year during the Qingming Festival, admirers would offer flowers and sweep the monument.
