Introduction to the Catholic nave: The Catholic nave is located on the mountainside on the south side. When it was first built in the second year of Tongzhi, there were only five bungalows, which were used as a resting place for missionaries. It was rebuilt in the 20th year of Guangxu's reign and can accommodate more than 500 people. There are three pavilions on the west side of the circular square in front of the church. The pavilions house the statues of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Virgin Mary and Arthur, collectively known as the "Three Holy Pavilions".
