Introduction to the Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce Building: The Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce Building is a Western-style Baroque-style building. Due to long disrepair, the exterior walls have been mottled, like a dying old man standing alone under the Henan Road Bridge. However, the exquisite brick carvings on the building and the majestic aura exuded by the building itself still make people feel a sense of awe. The Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce was the most influential business organization in old Shanghai. From the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, the Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce made many important decisions in this building, including the boycott of American goods, the May Fourth Movement and many other important events. They all played a big role; and during the government's embarrassing period, it continuously organized Chinese exhibits to participate in three World Expos in San Francisco, Panama, USA (Yuan Shikai was in power), Philadelphia, USA (Beiyang Government), and Paris, France (National Government).
