Introduction to Baphuon Temple: Baphuon Temple is located about 200 meters (656 feet) northwest of Bayon Temple, on the south side of the ancient Angkor Palace. Built on a five-story rectangular sandstone base, the temple was the first structure to feature a stone gallery and a central stone tower. There are two cross-shaped Sutra Pavilions in the courtyard. The Sutra Pavilions have four arches. The two Sutra Pavilions were originally connected by a passage above the ground, supported by low stone pillars under the passage. The gallery on the wall has collapsed. Later, the stones of the gallery were used to build a reclining statue of Bodhisattva, thus extending the west wall (head to the left, towards the temple). The outline of the Bodhisattva is difficult to discern. There is a stripe in the middle of the Bodhisattva. Stone steps lead to the top.
