Introduction to the Roluos Group of Temples: The Roluos Group is the original capital of the Angkor Dynasty and is regarded as the beginning of Khmer art. Bakong, Lolai, and the Shenniu Temple (Preah Ko) The three ruins were all built in the 9th century AD during the period of King Indra Varman I. They are known as the beginning of Cambodian classical art and are the oldest ruins in the Angkor Dynasty. Bakong is the most outstanding representative of Angkor's early temples, including a five-story pyramid-shaped central sand and stone pagoda, and eight brick and sand and stone pagodas around it. PreahKo Temple, also known as Preah Ko Temple, has 6 brick structure prasat (towers) decorated with sandstone and stucco reliefs. Luo Lei Temple is the last major temple before Jayavarman II moved the capital to Angkor. It is dedicated to Shiva Linga. It was built on a small island in the center of the first artificial pool in Khmer history. The pool is now Dry up and become rice fields.
