Introduction to Yuqingtang: Yuqingtang was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. The old owner of the house, Jin Wenjian, was a big tea merchant. He did business in Nanjing in his early years and was the president of Jiangning Chamber of Commerce. He gave birth to four sons, all of whom made great achievements. In the early years of Qianlong's reign, the four sons built four houses in the village respectively, forming the most famous four houses in the village. "Yu Qingtang" was one of them, built by the second son Jin Shiqiu. Jin Shiqiu started doing business with his father at the age of sixteen. Due to his good business skills, he made quite a profit and earned his name.
