Introduction to the old main entrance: Created by the artist Teodoro in 1070, it is a Byzantine-style copper door. There are six rows of fifty-four small grids on the bronze door. The silver carvings in the grid tell the story of Jesus' salvation through words and pictures. It was one of the most exquisite works of art at that time. The door was severely damaged by the fire of 1823, and most of its frames were restored in 1965-66 and moved to their current location in 1967, covering the Holy Door.
