Introduction to Palais Marie: Palais Marie is located on the seaside to the west of the Lower Garden, echoing the Palais de Montpoglier. The palace was modeled after the Palace of Marly, the palace of King Louis XIV of France on the outskirts of Paris. Peter the Great visited it when he was in France. After visiting this building, I was so amazed by its courtyard design, waterfalls, pools and pavilions that I copied it in the Peter Palace.
The palace is two stories high, with white walls and red roofs. There are four fan-shaped pools at the main entrance on the west side, and a Marli pool as flat as a mirror on the east side. Starting from the pool, three boulevards traverse the lower garden from east to west. , it looks very extraordinary from the water. It was originally the Tsar's living quarters and later became a storage room for Peter the Great's personal belongings.
