Introduction to Jianshang Thatched Cottage: Jianshang Thatched Cottage was Xu Fang’s residence. Xu Fang was a great writer, calligrapher and painter in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. The son inherited his father's ambition, but was also angry at the ruthless killings by the Qing army. He was obsessed with Baimajian, a quiet place rarely visited by people, so he lived in seclusion here for 40 years and never entered the city. Although Xu Fang lived a life of poverty, he never gave up learning. During this period, he wrote "The Collection of Twenty-One Histories", "The Collection of Tongjian Records" and "The Collection of Juyi Tang".
