Introduction to Gu Gong Temple: Gu Gong Temple was built in memory of Gu Dingchen, a famous anti-Japanese general. Gu Dingchen, a native of Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, was the number one scholar in the 18th year of Hongzhi in the Ming Dynasty. He passed through the Hongzhi, Zhengde and Jiajing dynasties of the Ming Dynasty and became a bachelor of Wuyingdian. Kunshan soldiers and civilians relied on the strong city walls built during his lifetime to repel Japanese pirates. Later generations built a temple to worship him in his honor.
