Introduction to Yuhantang: Yuhantang is the former residence of Wu Yipeng, the Minister of Civil Affairs in Nanjing during the Ming Dynasty. It was built in the 10th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty and has a history of more than 500 years. It covers an area of more than 5,000 square meters and a construction area of 6,000 square meters. With more than 2 square meters, it is the largest ancient building complex outside Suzhou. Wu Yipeng's former residence is a typical Jiangnan folk house. The house is divided into four roads and five entrances. Except for the main hall Yuhan Hall, which is a relic of the Ming Dynasty, the rest are buildings from the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. The main entrance faces the ancient streets and alleys, and the halls and pavilions are complete; The back garden echoes the main building and contains a lotus pond, rockery, boat hall, etc. It is a model of famous houses in the south of the Yangtze River.
Wu Yipeng (1460-1542) was a native of Shantang Street, Suzhou. In the sixth year of Hongzhi in the Ming Dynasty, Wu Yipeng passed the Jinshi examination and served as editor of the Hanlin Academy. Later, he became the teacher of Emperor Zhengde, and during the Jiajing period he was promoted to Minister of Rites.
