Introduction to the Geng Tower: The Geng Tower was built in the 33rd year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1554) and was originally the village gate. During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, Xishan was plundered by Japanese pirates one after another, and all ten houses were empty. In order to defend against Japanese pirates, the villagers of Mingyue Bay raised funds to build villages to resist Japanese pirates. After the Japanese pirates subsided, the village became a watchtower for watchmen to keep watch at night, which also served as time telling and security. Part of the gate tower was destroyed during the "Cultural Revolution" and was rebuilt in 2004 by the Xishan Town People's Government. In 2005, the Suzhou Municipal People's Government announced it as a controlled and protected building.
