Introduction to Xumen: Xumen faces east and west. It is named because it faces Guxu Mountain (Gusu Mountain) in the distance. It is one of the ancient gates built when the Wu Kingdom built its capital in the Spring and Autumn Period. The existing city gate was rebuilt in the 11th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1351) and rebuilt in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Xumen and Panmen are both the surviving ancient city gates in Suzhou.
