Introduction to Thean Hou Temple: Thean Hou Temple was built in the early Qing Dynasty with funds raised by Fujian merchants. After completion, it became the Fujian Guild Hall. Throughout the Qing Dynasty, Tianhou Temple was very popular. It was not only the spiritual home of Fujian merchants, but also a holy place for passing boatmen to worship Mazu. There are not many temples dedicated to Tianhou in inland areas. The existence of Tianhou Temple in Taierzhuang is a testimony of Fujian merchants doing business in the canal basin and spreading Mazu belief. It also reflects the attraction of Taierzhuang to southern merchants at that time.
The original Tin Hau Temple was destroyed by the war in 1938. Today, the rebuilt Tin Hau Temple has a construction area of 1,508 square meters and a two-yard courtyard layout. There are more than 80 main halls, side halls, front and rear wing rooms, theater towers, bell and drum towers and ancillary buildings. It is a building complex with distinctive southern Fujian characteristics.
