Tainan Chihkan Tower Travel Guide: The Remains of Pucheng Bastion

Introduction to the ruins of Pucheng Bastion: There is a ruin of Pucheng Bastion behind Wenchang Pavilion. The city of Prominja was first built by the Dutch. It has a bastion in the northeast and southwest with a lookout pavilion for military purposes. After the Dutch-style castle was destroyed, the original remains were lost. The Qing people built the Five Sons Temple, a Minnan-style building on the old fortress, to worship the five Neo-Confucian scholars of the Song and Ming Dynasties: Cheng Yi, Cheng Hao, Zhou Dunyi, Zhu Xi, and Zhang Zai. During the Japanese colonial period, the Wuzi Temple was destroyed by a storm, and the ruins and round arches of the Northeastern Bastion built by the Dutch were revealed. This relic is also the most valuable historical relic in the Chikan Tower.
