Introduction to Heping Island: Heping Island is located in the northeast of Keelung Port. There are Taiwanese aboriginal Basai people on the island. After the Han people settled in the island in the 17th century, it was called Sheliao Island. It was the first place in northern Taiwan where Westerners had footprints, and it was also one of the first places in Keelung where Han people settled in the area. The coast of Heping Island is famous for its sea erosion landscape. These areas were once classified as military controlled areas and are now open as seaside parks.
