Introduction to the Prince's Monument: Kitashirakawa Nohisa was the second generation of the Japanese royal family. In 1895, he was transferred to Taiwan from the battlefield in China to defend the country. He encountered fierce resistance from Taiwan's anti-Japanese militia and was attacked by malaria. He died of illness in Tainan soon after. In 1901, the Japanese established a shrine in Taiwan, and Prince Nojiu was one of the gods. Subsequently, many shrines built across Taiwan also worshiped Prince Nojiu, and this monument is also the best historical evidence of Japan's invasion of Taiwan.
