Introduction to Wenshi Academy: Wenshi Academy was the only academic institution in Penghu before the Qing Dynasty, located in the east corner of Magong Town. In the winter of 1766 (the 31st year of Emperor Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty), Xu Yingyuan, a tribute student, promoted Confucianism, selected talents, and raised funds to build a school, named "Wenshi Academy". There were originally many books and historical records on display in the academy, and the hall enshrined the statue of Emperor Wenchang and the five acting masters of Song Dynasty, including Zhu Xi, Cheng Hao, Cheng Yi, Zhou Dunyi and Zhang Zai. At that time, the academy was responsible for the prosperity of Confucianism and was the birthplace of Penghu culture. During the Sino-French War, the academy was burned to the ground by the French army. During the Japanese occupation, Confucius was worshiped here and became the Confucius Temple.
