Introduction to Butterfly Shadow Hunting: The butterfly appearance in Alishan is quite exciting, mainly due to the diverse environment; the rich herbivorous and nectar plants attract butterflies to stop here. There are about 139 species of butterflies in 9 families recorded so far, among which there is also the Great Ripple Butterfly, which is endemic to Taiwan. It is worth mentioning that there are many bamboo forests in the greater Alishan area. Aristolochia, which is common at the bottom of the bamboo forests, is the herbivorous food of the larvae of the large striped swallowtail butterfly, Taiwanese musk swallowtail butterfly, and yellow-sown swallowtail butterfly.
