Introduction to the Port Carved Building: The Port Carved Building was a private garden in the Qing Dynasty. In the fourth year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1739 AD), Yao, a carpenter from the south of the Yangtze River, built the carved building (now the East Building) in the port. In the early years of the Republic of China, the building changed ownership to Li Songru, a local Confucian businessman who operated Yangtze River shipping. Li continued to build the west building and wing building according to the style of the original building, and expanded the garden outside the building, which lasted three years.
