Introduction to prayer flags: The Wind Horse Flag is a unique scenery on the Tibetan Plateau. People can see it everywhere in the Tibetan inhabited areas of Sichuan, Qinghai, Gansu, Yunnan, and neighboring countries such as Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan, and Kashmir. There are strings, clusters, and pieces of colorful wind flags printed on cloth, linen, silk, and earthen paper with images of sutras and mantras woodblocked. These small square, angular, and strip-shaped flags are fixed in an orderly manner on door heads, ropes, clan buildings, and branches. They flutter and sway between the earth and the sky, forming a realm that connects the earth to the sky. Strings of colorful flags hung between pavilions and pine trees are densely printed with Tibetan mantras, scriptures, Buddha statues, and mascot graphics. They are the "Wind Horse Flags" that are popular in Tibetan areas. The Fengma flag not only has many religious connotations, but is also a piece of high-level art.
