Introduction to Yanghu Power Station: Yanghu Power Plant (Yamdrok Yonghu Pumped Storage Power Plant) is a generous gift to the Tibetan people from the Party Central Committee and the State Council, and is a key project of the national “Eighth Five-Year Plan”. After nine years of construction, the power plant was fully put into production in September 1997. It is geographically located on the banks of the Brahmaputra River in Jiangtang Town, Gonggar County, 83 kilometers southwest of Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. The upstream reservoir is Tibet's largest holy lake - Yamdrok Lake. The commissioning of the power plant has effectively alleviated the severe power shortage in the Lhasa power grid and laid the foundation for the formation of more power in Tibet. It marks that Tibet's power construction has entered a new stage of development and is important for promoting "unity, prosperity and civilization". "The construction of a new socialist Tibet is of extremely important significance.
