Introduction to Purple Mountain Observatory Xuyi Observatory: Purple Mountain Observatory Xuyi Observatory is located on the top of Paoma Mountain in Tieshan Temple Park. It is the first astronomical observatory in Asia and the second in the world. Because the top of Mashan Mountain is flat, wide, free of pollution, and has good night sky light conditions, it is an ideal astronomical observation point, where more and fainter asteroids can be observed.
