Introduction to Benten: Benten was built on a small mound southeast of the main hall, Mount Benten, and housed the goddess known as "Bensaiten". There is a bell tower on the right front opposite Benten Tendo. The bell in the bell tower was recast in 1692 by Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, the fifth shogun of the Edo shogunate, who ordered the prince Makino Narisada.
