Introduction to the equestrian statue: The equestrian statue of Victor Emmanuel II stands in the center of the Cathedral Square. He was the first king after the unification of Italy. The statue was designed by Ercole Rosa in Sculpted in 1896, it depicts the king on horseback inspiring his soldiers to charge during the Battle of San Martino.
