Introduction to the Site of Boston First Latin School: The Site of Boston First Latin School was originally the first public Latin school in the United States. There is a mosaic commemorative plaque on the sidewalk. It indicates that this school was founded in 1635. The four signers of the Declaration of Independence, Franklin, Adams, Hankows and Robert, all studied at this school, but Franklin, the most famous revolutionary, was the only one who did not graduate. The school's wooden building was demolished in 1745 when King's Chapel was enlarged.
