Introduction to the Armenian Church: The Armenian Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary was established from 1363 to 1370 by an Armenian merchant from Feodosia. In 1437 arcades were built around it, and today only the southern part remains, while the northern part was converted into a sanctuary. The church was destroyed by fire in 1527 and was expanded and rebuilt several times from 1571 to 1723. There is a small monastery on the north side of the church, and a bell tower built at the end of the 17th century and the Armenian Patriarch's Palace on the south side. The current cathedral is mainly what it looked like after the renovation from 1908 to 1927.
